Getting Set Up in BackOps
How to create your BackOps organization, choose seats or start a trial, add a payment method, and create your first event with the Add event wizard.
Before you can create events, you need an organization: the workspace that holds your company's events, crew, collaborators, templates and billing. This page walks you through creating one, how licensing works, and creating your first event.
Create your organization
When you first sign in, you land on Home. If you do not belong to an organization yet, Home offers Create organization. If you already belong to one, use the + (New organization) at the bottom of the organization list in the rail on the far left of the app.
Creating an organization is also how you start your BackOps Pro subscription, so the wizard covers your team size and payment as well.
Name your organization
Enter the Organization name and your billing country and ZIP code. A logo and a brand color are optional and can be changed later in Settings.
Choose how many seats you need
Pay
Invite your crew
You become the organization's admin and take its first seat. A solo operator is simply a one-person organization.
How licensing works
Licenses belong to an organization, and anything you buy applies to the organization you are working in.
- BackOps Pro is the core seat, one per person who plans and runs events. A BackOps Pro seat holder can create events and enter any event in the organization. Only a BackOps Pro seat holder can create events.
- Event Pass gives working access on the events someone is added to, without a BackOps Pro seat. It suits freelancers and clients.
- Org Pass gives access to organization-level pages, such as crew and collaborators, without working access inside events.
People you invite into an event with no pass can still be given permissions on their own collaborator. Each BackOps Pro seat also carries a pooled allowance of AI credits and storage, seeded at 100 AI credits and 100 GB per BackOps Pro seat, and overridable per organization. See Licensing for the full picture.
Billing
Admins manage billing from Settings › Billing. From there you can:
- Add a payment method (card or bank account) and edit the billing address.
- Change seat counts, with the prorated charge shown before you confirm.
- Use Add product to add an Event Pass or Org Pass.
- Buy BackOps Pro after a trial, or cancel and resume.
Create your first event
Go to your organization's Events page and click Add event. The wizard has up to four steps:
Basics
Enter the event Name, and choose an Event type if your organization has set them up. Leaving the type empty creates a freeform event with no intake form and no automation.
Intake
Setup
A typed event is built from its type's template. A freeform event can pick a Template or use none. With no template, enter a Default collaborator: the team that represents your organization on the event. It starts with your organization's name, and you can rename it later.
Review
A typed event is saved as a draft as soon as you leave Basics, so you can close the wizard and resume it later from the events table.
If Add event is missing, you do not have a BackOps Pro seat in this organization. An admin of an organization with no active plan sees Choose a plan instead, which opens Billing.
